Alexi Giannoulias is an American politician and financier currently serving as the Secretary of State of Illinois. He is a member of the Democratic Party and previously held the position of Illinois Treasurer from 2007 to 2011, becoming the 72nd person to serve in that role. Giannoulias has a diverse professional background, including roles as a lawyer, banker, and basketball player. Academically, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Boston University and a Juris Doctor (JD) from Tulane University. In addition to his political career, he is the CEO and founder of Annoula Ventures. His varied experiences in finance and law have contributed significantly to his political endeavors and leadership in Illinois.
