Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, commonly known as AOC, is an American politician and activist who has served as the U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, she is known for her progressive platform and advocacy on social and economic issues. Before her political career, Ocasio-Cortez worked as a bartender and waitress, which she has credited with shaping her approach to policy and representation. She is a Yorktown High School alumna and holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and International Relations from Boston University. Her experience includes roles as an educator and community organizer, contributing to her dynamic presence in contemporary American politics.
