Alain Berset

Alain Berset is a prominent Swiss politician who has served as a member of the Swiss Federal Council since 2012. Born in Fribourg in 1972, he received his education at the University of Neuchâtel, obtaining a PhD in Economics. Berset is a member of the Social Democratic Party, serving Fribourg canton as its representative in the Council of States prior to joining the Federal Council. He has held important portfolio roles such as head of the Federal Department of Home Affairs, and also served as the president of the Swiss Confederation in 2018 and again in 2021. Throughout his political career, Berset has demonstrated dedication towards healthcare, welfare, and cultural sectors in Switzerland.
