    Extend Visitor Visa

My name is Qi, I welcomed a little daughter with my husband this year in February. To make my first-time mum's journey easier, my parents came over to help me look after her pre-COVID19, we have had a wonderful time together. Now I am worried every time I read about the second wave of COVID19 in the rest of the world, and the fact that their visa is expiring at the end of September. In being forced to return home during these trying times, the burden of extremely expensive flight tickets and isolation costs will be theirs to bear. They will have to make two international stop-overs, each stop-over requires 14 days of isolation by the local government, not to mention, each stop-over will put them at increasing risk of getting infected. A happy family gathering in New Zealand is becoming an unaffordable and risky experience for them.   Unfortunately, Qi’s experience is not unique, there are tens of thousands of people on temporary visas expiring in 25/09/2020 in New Zealand. Every single one of them is facing unbearable costs to go home due to limited flight tickets, and facing great risk of getting infected during the trip, or upon return to their home countries. People who came to New Zealand to visit family or on holiday should not be punished for something that is beyond their control, instead, they should have the option to leave in a safer and more affordable way.   There are numerous benefits for providing a visa extension: 1. Continuing the protection of individuals who have had safe harbor in NZ, rather than condemning them to face great health risk.  2. Prevention of potential further spread of virus internationally. 3. Their expenditure in New Zealand will help stimulate NZ’s economy. 4. Offload the pressure from the airports and flight capacity, in the coming rush for people forced to leave in numbers that cannot be supported. 5. Prevent the risk of many individuals being forced into a situation where they breach their visas as “overstayers” when they have no control over how soon they can leave.   Everyone deserves to be safe and avoid unnecessary trips during this pandemic. This is why I am calling attention from New Zealand immigration to consider extending temporary visas for an additional 6 months.   Please sign and share this petition to generate awareness for people in this situation. During crisis, we unite together.

    Petition to UK Home Office

Give young blind musicians from India UK visitor visas

Two young blind Indian musicians Prem (25) and Jyothi (19) due to arrive in Scotland as part of a UK/India cultural exchange programme set up by the UK government in 2017, have been refused entry into the UK.     They were travelling with a group of people from the disability organisation, Devasitham Charitable Foundation based in Chennai.  Their non disabled colleagues, who were supporting them, were granted entry. However, the Home Office refused the visa applications of these two young disabled people due to their economic and family circumstances stating that it is "not satisfied that you have sufficient ties in India that will act as an incentive for you to leave the UK at the end of your trip”.    The cultural exchange programme hosted by the Scottish charity, Paragon Music, with funding from the British Council, Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government was designed specifically to address the barriers faced by disabled people when trying to participate in cultural activities.  So the views and experiences of the very people that have been refused entry to the UK were absolutely crucial to the success of the two week exchange programme which has now had to be cancelled. Help us to reverse the Home Office decision so that Prem and Jyothi can join their fellow non disabled musicians on this exchange visit to Scotland with Paragon Music.  Let them bring the gifts of harmony and oneness with their beautiful music from Chennai so they can share it here in the UK with those of us that listen!  Please sign this petition!

Petition to William Mason High School

    Mason Homecoming visitor acceptance

We have been accepting to all the changes this year as far as the school goes. The large commons for homecoming was tolerable. They took away visitors for homecoming now from another school. Its a night meant for fun and a good time out with your cared for person/ friends. We have the room for it, in fact have way too much room for it. Seniors at least should have visitors.

Petition to Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews

Friends are just as important as intimate partners. Allow singles to have a visitor.

The Covid-19 global pandemic has been catastrophic for public health, the economy and livelihoods across the globe. Victoria is currently experiencing a second wave and is 6 weeks into its Stage 4 lock down, on top of Stage 3 prior to this. For people living alone, without an "intimate partner," this means potentially months of isolation. Many people have never felt so lonely or disconnected, and no amount of zoom parties, phone calls, or chats to neighbours through our masks can substitute for the physical nearness of another human being. Apparently we're "all in this together" but people living alone are uniquely disadvantaged. This petition is to request the Victorian Government to consider allowing single people to form a social bubble, effective as soon as possible. We urge the Government to consider the emerging mental health crisis, weigh up the relative potential public health risk, and decide in favour of humanity, trusting that the majority of us will continue to do the right thing to protect ourselves and each other from this virus. While the current Stage 4 restrictions do allow visits for the purposes of urgent care, this appears to be designed for crisis situations only rather than preventative social support. Explicitly allowing people living alone to have the same rights as intimate partners would make a profound difference to our experience of this pandemic, increase resilience and reduce the load on mental health services.
