What a week! On Wednesday we had a public meeting with 70 attendees where the town mayor and numerous councillors gave their support to the proposal. Welsh Cycling came and supported the event and we're hoping for some social media content from them next week.
The even bigger news is that the next night the town council unnanimously voted to put the proposal onto the priority list of the Abergele Place Plan and asked me that I consider a different site that has more space so that we can go for a BIGGER pumptrack. They want us to look at a national standard track capable of attracting international riders.
This could be huge and really put Abergele on the map for something long lived, sustainable and hugely beneficial for the community and businesses of the town.
We've now formed a committee and will be working through site SWOT analysis over the next few weeks with the hope that we can submit planning permission within the next 6-8 weeks. Once we have planning permission then it's time to start fund raising (yes, the only downer of the week is that there is currently no funding we can access for this, BUT there's plenty of seed money to help get the project started).
Thank you all so so so much for your support. It's taken me a year to get it this far but now there's a whole team working on this and we're all looking forward to those sunset laps in mid summer.
