Our spokesperson joined the BBC 3 Counties breakfast show as planned on Thursday morning. A discussion that Woburn Estates were invited to join but declined. However afterwards, they contacted the station to say that Andrew Russell, Duke of Bedford, would like to go on air to respond to our exposure of trophy hunting in the Deer Park.
He joined the breakfast show on Friday morning and at last admitted that trophy hunters do indeed pay thousands of pounds to be able to take the trophies off the heads of his deer. Further, although he apparently doesn't understand their motivation, he is still perfectly happy to continue to take their money into the future. He also confirmed that the Deer Farm breeding programme does not only breed bigger and bigger antlered deer for the park but exports them to other UK and international locations for red stag "industry". The usual attempt to smokescreen these facts with stories of culling and conservation followed in abundance. Listen to the interview here - forward at 01:35:00.
