This is the response many are receiving when after asking the Wisconsin DNR Natural Resource Board to vote against any process to change the process to amend a State Park’s Master plan: "In general, there seems to be some confusion on exactly what this item on the board’s agenda is intended to accomplish. It has nothing to do with selling state park land at Kohler Andrae State Park or anywhere else.  This is a matter of how master plans are amended and the criteria used for master plans that were developed prior to 1996-before NR 44 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code went into effect. This is purely an administrative matter-more of a housekeeping measure-not about land sales.  We appreciate your concern for our natural resources and this board action will allow us to protect and enhance those resources more efficiently and effectively." Wisconsin residents deserve a much more truthful response. We wonder how it can be that at the same time the master plan for Kohler Andre State Park needs to be amended to accommodate Kohler Company’s request to build three buildings on State Park land and modify the entrance to KA State Park, that the DNR needs to attend to this “housekeeping” measure? How many master plans were developed prior to 1996 and currently have a well connected developer wanting a portion of that state park? For an issue as serious as changing rules which will allow all of our State Park lands to sell off land, the public deserves an open hearing with more notice and information. It is our land. We can not allow the DNR to give away our State Land and destroy our natural resources.
