FRIENDS! We need phone calls and emails RIGHT NOW, THIS AFTERNOON! There may be a chance public outcry has been heard and we can stop this terrible deal from going through! The BOL is set to vote on this proposed contract with Standard at 7pm tonight. Surprisingly, a joint committee meeting just ended about a half an hour ago. At that meeting, all three committees present unanimously voted the contract to make it OUT of Committee and onto the floor for a full 17-Member BOL vote tonight. The Contract needs 9 votes to pass. 5 members of the DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS this morning voted to move it out of committee and onto the floor 'Without Prejudice" (WOP), which means that while they voted 'yes" to move it out of committee, that is not to be taken as an indication on how they will vote tonight. But we are encouraged that perhaps this could mean the Dem Caucus will stick together and vote "NO" There are TWO Dem Legislators who did not vote WOP this morning...please contact their offices directly this afternoon by phone and/or email and tell them to vote 'NO'. Please also contact Republican Legislators David Gelfarb (Chair of the Parks Committee) and Jim Maisano, Vice Chairman of the BOL. Democrat Ben Boykin could maybe use a nudge too...if you have time to do this. If the Dems stick together tonight and vote 'NO', this deal with not go through.
