Hey Westchester! Meet your new Playland Mangement Team! This guy is 1/3 of the 'Standard Amusements' company that Astorino wants to bring in to manage Playland for 30 years (and yeah, on first glance, you're not seeing things, that's a mug shot...a very RECENT mug shot). It's three guys: Hedge Fund guy Nick Singer, former Cedar Fair employee and start up company owner Jack Falfas, and this one....former Deputy Mayor of Yonkers, Andy Maniglia. According to this article, sounds like Andy here is still on probation. HIGH FIVE COUNTY EXECUTIVE ROB ASTORINO! Just what a family park needs! Oh - and on the second go-round of this contract, it looks like Andy here made sure to include language specifically stating that Standard Amusements gets "RIGHTS OF FIRST REFUSAL" on an empty on-site 2 bedroom apt. that is supposed to be COUNTY EMPLOYEE HOUSING ONLY. Yup. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? What could POSSIBLY go wrong? From a March 5, 2014 LoHud article: "A former Yonkers deputy mayor has admitted videotaping himself having sex with a woman without her consent under a plea agreement with Rockland County prosecutors. Andrew Maniglia, 56, of Valhalla faces threes years probation, a fine and a five-year order to stay away from the woman when he is sentenced April 21 in Clarkstown Town Court. He pleaded guilty Feb. 24 to a misdemeanor count of attempted unlawful surveillance before Town Justice Rolf Thorsen. Maniglia, who served as Yonkers deputy mayor in the 1990s, originally faced two counts of second-degree unlawful surveillance, a felony, for twice videotaping sex with the woman. Clarkstown police charged Maniglia in early December" Here's the link to the LoHud article: http://www.lohud.com/story/news/2014/03/04/ex-yonkers-deputy-mayor-andrew-maniglia-admits-videotaping-sex-clarkstown-woman/6023665/ In addition to Mr. Maniglia and front man/sales pitch guy, Hedge Fund guru Nick Singer, the other third of "Standard Amusements" is this fellow, THE ONLY portion of this trio that has ANY Amusement Park Industry experience whatsoever. Can you say, "putting all our eggs in one basket"? Hey Westchester! Meet your new Playland Mangement Team! Think that Westchester County is getting an experienced Amusement Park Industry company to come in and run Playland with this ludicrous deal Astorino is trying to shove down our throats? Think again. Despite Rob Astorino and Mike Kaplowitz repeatedly getting on tv and in print interviews to tell people we're getting "the best in the business" and "an experienced amusement park operator", and the misconception they are deliberately putting out to the Public to sell everyone on this absolutely CRAP deal....here's the real skinny. 'Standard Amusements" is an off-shoot of the Standard General hedge fund created solely to acquire Playland. They aren't going to "manage" anything. In what functional capacity they even exist other than as a shell company on paper is up for anyone's guess. The actual "management" company they are bringing in to "run" things is 'United Parks'. United Parks is ONE GUY - Jack Falfas. He lost his job working for Amusement Park Industry giant Cedar Fair back in 2010, after working for them for 35 years. He sued to get his job back and LOST. Hasn't run an amusement park since. Here's the web page for his START UP BUSINESS, United Parks, formed in 2014. Impressive portfolio they have, huh? Where, exactly, in this company profile can Rob Astorino, Ned McCormack, Kevin Plunkett and Mike Kaplowitz find for us any evidence of an impressive portfolio of United Parks successfully running ANY - let alone multiple - amusement parks? Where, exactly, are they getting info determining that "United Parks" has a demonstrated track record of success coming into this deal to manage Playland? Where is their list of properties with info about how long they've been running and them and what kind of profits they turn there with other pertinent financials? Folks, feel free to do further research for me and see what you can turn up. And Oh, btw, if you google the Daytona Lagoon deal from Sept. 2015, all the press releases put out by United Parks at that time claim that they ALREADY RUN Playland. Wonder what a load of malarkey they sold the folks down there to get THAT deal... It's called doing DUE DILIGENCE folks. Do your homework. http://unitedparks.com/#Properties
