Last Thursday, I delivered our “We Want to See Trump’s Tax Returns” petition to key members of Congress in Washington, D.C. The signed petitions were left with: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell Senator Chuck Schumer Senator Cory Gardner Senator Kirsten Gillibrand Senator Richard Burr Senator Mark Warner House Speaker Paul Ryan House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Representative Adam Schiff Representative Trey Gowdy Representative Zoe Lofgren (who responded to our petition, in support) At each Congressional office, I left a poster that stated that 438,000 people demand to see Trump's tax returns along with a flash drive that contained the petition and every signature. I was able to have a meeting with staffers at Senator Schumer's and Senator Gillibrand's offices and asked them to continue to do everything in their power to obtain Trump's tax returns. I also told them we would NEVER stop asking because we needed to know, once and for all, if Trump has financial ties to Russia and Putin. Since the monstrous Trumpcare bills and the GOP's threatened repeal of the ACA have consumed Capitol Hill for the past few weeks, I will follow up with each legislator's office after the health care debate has ended. The president “is incensed at reports that Robert Mueller, the former FBI director leading the independent investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, is investigating Trump's business dealings and finances, including his tax returns.” The Washington Post reported last week that Trump has told aides he is particularly upset at the prospect of the investigators having access to several years of his tax returns. In other words, he’s scared. There’s something in those returns that he wants to keep hidden. For all we know, Mueller may already have Trump’s tax returns, although he won’t be releasing them to the public. But he’ll certainly be using them to follow the money if it turns out that Trump has significant financial ties to Russia.
