What 9/11 means for Malki Roth's family

This update is going out to the 32,000+ people who have honored our efforts to see justice done to the woman who calls the 2001 Sbarro massacre "my operation". 

1. First, thank you. Your support makes concrete the things we say when the media ask us about this fight for justice. We tell them that the passing years and the failures of several governments to get Ahlam Tamimi tried in Washington are noticed. Without your vote of confidence, it would be harder to say that.
2. The details of those failures - the reasons why Jordan gets away for years with trampling its 1995 Extradition Treaty with the United States and thus keeps the Sbarro monster free, active and horrifyingly influential in Jordan and throughout the Arab world - don't attract as much interest in the mainstream  media as you might imagine. We know we need to try much harder. But you might be surprised by how much we do try. And how often (and by whom) it's brushed off and ignored.
3. Back in 2001, twenty-five years ago, 9/11 happened a month after the Sbarro atrocity and the murder of Malki and fifteen additional innocents. Hours before the first hijacked plane exploded into the World Trade Center, on the morning of September 11, 2001 here in Israel, the Registrar of Associations at the Ministry of Justice in Jerusalem notified our lawyers that the registration of Keren Malki, the Malki Foundation, had been completed and we could come and collect the certificate. We didn't understand at that moment, hours before the massive change took place, how different the world would soon look and how weighty the date itself, 9/11, would very quickly become.
4. The twenty-fifth anniversary of the Sbarro catastrophe happened on August 9, 2026. My wife and I, along with helpful friends, worked hard to leverage the anniversary as a way of getting some much-needed media coverage for our pursuit of justice. Below there are some selected interviews  and articles from a much longer list.
5. This isn't the time for details (since they're still being worked out) but we are preparing a public call on lawmakers in Washington to boycott all future visits by Jordan's king to closed-door sessions of the Congress and its many committees. There's something absurd about how Jordan's violation of a key treaty - the one that the Justice Department is relying on to get Tamimi to Washington and a trial on federal charges - gets zero attention in the legislature of the US capital. And at the same time, the monarch who rules that treaty partner, the one whose father signed and ratified it back in 1995 so that he could proudly elevate the US/Jordan relationship to the higher level he so openly sought - allows it to be trampled. More about this soon.
