Well, supporters, it's almost 1 year since I started this petition ... and we officially have a bill INTRODUCED to the Legislators of Virginia in this year's Legislative Session.
HB1823 is a bill to amend the Building Code of Virginia requiring all public schools and daycares built pre-2015 to require a carbon monoxide detector on site.
Huge thanks to Delegate Kelly Convirs-Fowler, Delegate Alex Askew, Delegate Guzman and Delegate Helmer for introducing this important legislation into this year's session.
While the bill has been APPROVED by the House of Delegates – It has now been referred to the Senate Committee on Education & Health.
It is sitting there waiting to be read at the moment (circled in pink on chart below) by 15 Senators who decide whether or not to move this important legislation forward.
Here are the 9 Democrats and 6 Republican Senators in the State of Virginia we need to put pressure on ASAP this week to ensure
safe schools in Virginia for our kiddos and educators.
CAN YOU HELP by reaching out and asking them to vote YES on HB1823 – requiring CO detectors in daycares and public schools in the State of Virginia? I've made it super easy for you by including their contact info below.
I would really love for everyone to reach out, but particularly any VIRGINIA PARENT, EDUCATOR or CONSTITUENT who supports this initiative for change to reach out.
