They’re starting to listen!! Yesterday, a few hours after we posted our update on this petition, Ringette Ontario shared the following link: Member Notice - Team Formation - Nov212024 

Here are the key points:

• Ringette Ontario will be reimagining the proposal to include a phased-in approach since, based on feedback, “not all areas of the province are prepared for such a significant change in a short period”. We assume this refers to the Ottawa region, Northern Ontario, etc. Details of the revised timeline and changes will be shared with ringette associations across Ontario by Dec 10th, 2024. Stay tuned!
• The plan remains to have a “uniform team formation process across regions”. We’ll have to wait for their proposal on Dec 10th to see if any changes are made to their initial proposal of 1-2 AA team per Zone and max of 1 A team per association, causing a domino effect that would force many athletes down in levels, making it difficult for B and C players to find a spot on a team.
• Two new governing/advisory bodies will be formed to assist with the changes: a “Team Formation Oversite Working Group” and a “Competitions Oversight Operational Committee”.
• Ringette Ontario will incorporate feedback into the revised proposal and address specific concerns and suggestions to improve the overall process.
• They also said “Ringette Ontario is committed to creating a standardized and fair team formation process that benefits all players. We appreciate the constructive feedback provided and will continue to work collaboratively with Clubs and Leagues to ensure a smooth transition”.
