Thanks for sharing the petition. Just fyi, the number of people losing access to the NDIS is much greater than 160,000. Government have confirmed 241,000 current participant will lose access by 2031. Then, add in those who would have accessed it under current parameters, and that number jumps to 350,000. And we don't know how many people with psychosocial disability are included in those numbers- that modelling hasn't been released. And of course, we don't know what, if any, alternative supports will be available. New NDIS eligibility rules will cut 241,000 participants from scheme in four years, documents reveal | National disability insurance scheme | The Guardian
Then there are all the other cuts, including to participant budgets commencing in October. The NDIS Bill coming before parliament in 2 weeks, includes s34 cuts by Ministerial Determination (ie cuts without any consideration of individual impact). These enable the 50% cut to Social and Community Participation budgets for every single NDIS participant. When we look at the SCCP cuts for psychosocial disability alone and calculate the cut over 5 years based on current psychosocial participant numbers, it amounts to close to $6billion. That's the same budget amount allocated by Bilateral Agreement to foundational supports for all disability groups outside the NDIS, over the age of 9, over the same time period - 5 years. It's important to look closely at the numbers here to understand what is occurring.
Also, please reach out if you'd like to connect with LE consumer advocates who are NDIS participants. This is a fabulous song created by the Australian Psychosocial Disability Collective (74) Australian Psychosocial Disability Collective (APDC) - Don't Take Away My NDIS - YouTube.
