Upgrade Cawston Skate Park to a Safe, Smooth Facility
O problema
The current skate facility at Oakes Family Playing Field in Cawston consists of aging modular metal and composite ramps on a rough tarmac base. Over time, these surfaces have degraded, creating severe safety risks for local children, teenagers, and families who use skateboards, scooters, BMX bikes, and roller skates.
Modern facilities—such as those at North Walsham and Eaton Park—are built using smooth, sprayed concrete. Concrete parks are significantly safer, far quieter for neighboring residents, drastically cheaper to maintain over time, and accessible to a wider variety of ages and sports.
We call on Cawston Parish Council to:
Formally recognise the need to modernise the skate park at Oakes Family Playing Field.
Form a working group alongside local residents to explore external grant funding (such as CIL funds, National Lottery Community Grants, and Sport England).
Work toward replacing the existing metal ramps with a modern, smooth concrete facility that serves our community safely for decades to come.
