With a 22-0 vote, 1 abstaining, the USF Student Senate has voted on a resolution in favor of permanent protection of the Forest Preserve with a conservation easement. While USF administration has no obligation to take action on this ruling, this a great show of support for our cause by the Student Government and one that is hard to ignore.
There has also been a big change in leadership at USF. After a short tumultuous run as USF President, Steve Currall has announced his retirement effective August 2nd, citing health concerns from the pressure of the job. While Currall can be commended for his leadership through the pandemic, we can only hope that future administration will be more transparent and open to input from students, faculty, and the community.
