We have reviewed the letter from Catherine L. Kessmeier that you have graciously forwarded to our family. Thank you.
While we are cognizant that the double jeopardy would apply to the felony charges that he was convicted of by the D.O.J. in Federal Court, we are also cognizant that he was NOT charged with any homicide charges or charged with Adultery. Homicide and adultery charges are very much still available to the Navy to peruse. So much so, that one of the Navy’s own JAG attorney said that they could get to Manslaughter charges against Mr. Nettleton. As the Navy will see from the court reporter sentencing hearing and trial, the Prosecution, as well as our family and many others believe Mr. Nettleton perjured himself on the stand in Federal Court and continues to lie and cover up the facts of this case. Moreover, Mr. Nettleton pled the 5th to save himself from further charges. Mr. Nettleton also confessed to adultery on the stand and in open court before a federal judge, which as we know is a crime in the military These facts alone should cause the Navy pause and peruse felony homicide charges, adultery charges and administrative remedies that we know are very much so available to the Navy.
If the Navy were not to pursue these charges, it would be a colossal disservice to Christopher, our family and all the fine men and women that take the call for duty for our great country. Further, prosecuting Mr. Nettleton will serve to preserve and protect the integrity of the Navy. Good order and discipline is the backbone for all members of the U.S. military.

The Navy cannot look on and do nothing. The Navy will be dangerous place if they do not file homicide and adultery charges against Mr. Nettleton. Our family and friends urge the Navy to respond with homicide charges, charges pursuant to adultery that ultimately lead to Christopher’s death and administrative remedies, befitting a United States Commander of a base that willfully broke the law.
