Dear Friends Twitter Storm for Munther! 15th May #FreeMuntherAmira The Palestine-UK Social Work Network is inviting you to join social workers and campaigners around the world to take action by joining in a twitter storm on Nakba Day in solidarity with the Palestinian people, and in particular our friend and colleague, Munther Amira. A former general secretary of the Palestinian Union of Social Workers and Psychologists, Munther is a social worker, community activist and steadfast defender of human rights, and recognised as a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International. He was arrested in December 2017 for peacefully protesting about Palestinian child prisoners and the arrest of 16-year-old Ahed Tamimi in particular, and is currently held in Israeli military detention. Our twitter storm will take place on Tuesday 15th May, which will mark 70 years since the Nakba. This day commemorates the time when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forced to flee their homes. This process of forced displacement, land grab and denial of Palestinian rights continues to this day.
