In May 1, 1948, the Palestine and Israel war started. The trigger was the termination of the British mandate over Palestine and the Israeli declaration of independence. The main factor of the conflict is the conflict over land, as both countries cannot settle on who own the lands. The conflict then turns for the worse, and the countries are officially fighting in war. This conflict has caused thousands of deaths and destruction, as both countries do not compromise each other’s religions and cultures. This makes both parties the perpetrator or offender in the conflict, but also the victims, because there are lots of innocent children who knows nothing that have shed blood for their countries.

Palestine and Israel actions toward each other violates:

·      UDHR: Convention on the Non-Applicability of Statutory Limitations to War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity, Article I: No statutory limitation shall apply to the following crimes, irrespective of the date of their commission:

(a) War crimes as they are defined in the Charter of the International Military Tribunal, Nürnberg, of 8 August 1945 and confirmed by resolutions 3 (I) of 13 February 1946 and 95 (I) of 11 December 1946 of the General Assembly of the United Nations, particularly the "grave breaches" enumerated in the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949 for the protection of war victims;

(b) Crimes against humanity whether committed in time of war or in time of peace as they are defined in the Charter of the International Military Tribunal, Nürnberg, of 8 August 1945 and confirmed by resolutions 3 (I) of 13 February 1946 and 95 (I) of 11 December 1946 of the General Assembly of the United Nations, eviction by armed attack or occupation and inhuman acts resulting from the policy of apartheid, and the crime of genocide as defined in the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, even if such acts do not constitute a violation of the domestic law of the country in which they were committed.

·      Rome Statute: Crimes against Humanity and War Crimes

It might seem difficult, but one of the only realistic solutions to end the war and make peace is to make interim arrangements to set the ground for further agreements and eventually the final agreement. This might seem near impossible, but it is possible, only after Palestine and Israel both compromise. To do so, first, Palestine needs to stop educating its children to hate Israel. Kids in Palestine are already taught to hate Israel during pre-school. Palestine also still cannot agree to live among Jews. These acts will not help in reaching peace. Not only Palestine, Israel also teaches their kids to hate Palestine. The Jews also need to realize and stop building Jewish settlements in the land that is not their official territory, as this act will only make the conflict worse.

But, to compromise is impossible, if their mindsets are already prejudiced and set. So, in order for them to compromise and eventually settle on a final agreement, delegates from outside both countries, who are unbiased and whose only purpose is to make peace, needs to go to both countries and educate them. This solution needs to be implemented in the curriculum in both countries. These delegates need to educate both the government and the society, especially the children, to prevent future wars. The delegate’s purpose is to little by little change their mindset and help them learn to compromise with each other.
