We are sharing an important update to clarify the current status of the situation raised in this petition.

The department has confirmed that it is aware of the concerns reported by students and that an internal review was conducted over several months. The outcome of that review was communicated simply as a conclusion that no policy violations occurred. No further explanation, documentation, or opportunity for escalation regarding student reports has been provided. The matter was effectively closed at that stage.

In contrast, cases involving students have moved forward rapidly. Reports against students were quickly escalated into formal proceedings, resulting in unresolved cases now being transferred to hearings. During this time, students continue to face delayed graduation timelines, uncertainty around academic records, and prolonged personal and academic disruption.

At present, students are being asked to choose between:

Accepting an academic outcome determined by the professor involved, despite the unresolved concerns that prompted this petition; or
Proceeding to a formal hearing, risking similar or more severe outcomes while experiencing further delays in an already extended process.
This disparity in how reports are handled—swift escalation when students are accused, and closure without transparency when students raise concerns—has left affected students without clarity, recourse, or resolution.

This update underscores a central issue raised by this petition: processes that lack balance, transparency, and timely resolution place the greatest burden on students. We continue to call for clearer communication, equitable handling of reports, and procedures that protect students’ academic progress and well-being.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support transparency, fairness, and accountability.
