Hello fellow petition supporters,
It's been a long year of research, learning, outreach and defeat.
In summary, we presented the petition to the WCPSS School Board and after following up a group did meet and decided their guidelines are acceptable.
I have since continued to follow the guidelines and recommendations of other national, credible, health organizations, other school districts and the National School Board. WCPSS is not following these guidelines or recommendations.
And as the National School Board notes, “People might initially resist making accommodations until they realize the life-threatening nature of the situation and the disruptions a health crisis can cause to the school day.” Which is exactly what the district is doing now.
This cleaning applies to flu season. It applies to when the norovirus hits. It applies to those with food allergies, where their guidelines put lives in danger. It applies to those with loved ones at home that are immuno-compromised or have a newborn to care for.
Please continue to share. I've decided to create my own advocacy company - ACE Advocacy - (can find on Facebook) in an effort to get more organized and 'official' while pushing the system -- again. This is a non-profit, mom-driven effort. I'd appreciate your support!
Hope you are all safe and healthy.
Thanks!
Kira
