Topock Elementary School District #12 has already held one Truth in Taxation hearing this summer. But instead of listening to the community, they are now attempting a second “bite at the apple” for the same $450,000 tax increase (≈900% increase for taxpayers).

Even worse, the district cannot get its notices straight:

Newspaper notice (Mohave Valley Daily News, behind a paywall) lists September 17.

This creates confusion for residents who rely on the district’s website, especially since the official newspaper is not freely accessible.

The law requires TNT notices to clearly state the time and place of the hearing. Two different dates undermine transparency and may invalidate the process entirely.
