Australian Health Reform Association
Oct 1, 2019

We have sent an open letter to all our Health Ministers - Federal, State and Territory Governments of Australia, seeking for healthcare reform and a Royal Commission into Healthcare Maladministration and Mishandling of Health Complaints.

We now have 12,760 signatories, including endorsement from organisations and prominent individuals like Drs Gary Fettke and Charlie Teo.

Dr Fettke has been a very courageous doctor who cares for his patients and advocates healthy diet but was harassed by the medical regulators for many years until recently when the Medical Board finally acknowledged and apologised to him.

We believe it is in the public interest that our government consider taking this petition very seriously as health issues matter to all us.

In our petition letter, we wrote to the Health Ministers that:

We are seeing rising healthcare costs and insurance premiums to unaffordable levels; more and more people are opting out of private health insurance; and public hospitals are in a state of crisis with overcrowding, long waiting time and high profile corruptions.

On the other hand, healthcare professionals are being bullied in their workplace to the point of physical exhaustion, emotional burnout and suicides. Sexual harassment of junior doctors remains a serious problem.

We know that your health budget is limited. We also know that adding more bureaucracy in healthcare could only make healthcare services more costly and complicated to operate. Relevantly, at the very heart of this bureaucratic meddling into our once noble medical profession lies the dysfunctional operation of AHPRA, HCCC and PSR.

Hence, the current problems with AHPRA cannot be properly addressed, or effectively solved, without the intervention of the Australian government in setting up a truly independent body that has the authority and power like the Royal Commission for the purpose of bringing to light the failure of regulators to administer fair and natural justice.

Together with this petition letter, we also sent off the comments from all of you to the ministers. We want the government to know that the Australian people are suffering and this will only get worse if we continue to allow the health crisis to go on without addressing the elephant in the room, i.e. the regulators from creating havoc to our entire healthcare industry.

In the name of democracy and in the interest of the public health and safety, we call upon our government to take our petition seriously and address the nation by setting up a Royal Commission.

For those who wish to read our entire petition letter, feel free to contact us at australianhealthreformgroup@gmail.com

We all have to do our part. You can take this letter to your local MPs and ask them to raise this issue in the parliament. You can share this to everyone you care about so that they are aware of the health crisis.

Together we can achieve something for our healthcare and the people we love. Health matters to us all.

We will keep you posted of further updates. Thank you for the support.
