The Last Chance campaign, joined by independent experts and more than 30,000 people, has filed detailed comments highly critical of Disney's environmental impact assessment for its proposed cruise ship port at Lighthouse Point. Just two of many deficiencies: Disney's EIA provides no data to support its claims of economic benefits and of no impact on biodiversity. The EIA ignores climate risks and its project's carbon emissions, including from up to a million visitors there each year.
It would be "environmentally irresponsible" for Disney to move ahead on this fundamentally flawed assessment; and we are concerned that Disney will not give serious consideration to our comments. Its cruise line appears determined to ram through environmental approval for the project as soon as possible. Our hope is that Disney will hear our voices as our number of supporters approaches 500,000.

It is not too late for Disney to change course at Lighthouse Point, to do something truly transformative in cooperation with local groups, and show real leadership in our changing world.
