Salt Lake City and Hines willfully and knowingly avoided following state law by creating a false narrative (some call that a lie) that the theater wasn't illegible for listing on the National Historic Register, but it is, we submitted it, and it was approved! On top of all that, Hines put paper in the windows and started interior demolition without permits, and as of this post, the city isn't doing anything to stop them or hold them accountable. We all know Hines knows better, they are a company that develops, builds, and manages billions of dollars of property around the world, they of all people would know when they do or don’t need a building permit. They should suffer the fullest and most severe consequences possible for choosing to break the law.
Please share this petition and get us more signatures. Salt Lake City and Hines think they can do whatever they want. They think they can promise millions of benefits in trade for an irreplicable national landmark theater then give us something far less valuable. They think they can ignore state law because their ends justify the illegal means. They can start demolition without permits because nobody is going to hold them accountable. We need to let them know they will be held accountable. Please help us make sure that happens.
