Well, a day of positive news for sure. Although not official, it is now my belief the chances of netting wild salmon in the spring of 2015 are far less than this time yesterday. On opening the salmon season on the river Tay earlier today, the Scottish first minister, Alex Salmond, announced Review of Wild Fisheries Management in Scotland. Basically this will overhaul 200 year old legislation which currently renders ministers helpless with regard many of the laws governing wild fish and their management. To mismanage, kill, and not have the legislative ability to properly protect such a valuable national resource is completely irresponsible and I for one am more than pleased to hear the “specific” words chosen by Mr Salmond today. Shona Paterson from Dumfries, here in Scotland, became the 15,000th person to sign.
