17 lug 2016 — UPDATE: I have finally heard back from Hillary Benn and I am quite encourage by his reply. It looks as though we might get progress on changing the law. Hillary Benn will be forwarding our vision for the register and recommended law changes to the new Secretary of DEFRA for comments. This is quite exciting for us. It demonstrates your support and commitment is helping to bring about a necessary change to current UK law. In essence, we are slowly making a difference about changing the laws regarding animal cruelty in the UK. Therefore, I will encourage our supporters contact DEFRA and contact Andrea Leadsom the new Secretary for DEFRA (see below contact information). Also, I will encourage you to write your MP (see below) voicing your support for the register and changes to sentencing. I have posted below links to the State of Tennessee Animal Abuse Registry website (see below) and Orange County New York Animal Abuse Registry (see below). Our vision is to have a registry similar to the State of Tennessee but "customised" to fit the requirements of UK law and culture. Next, I will encourage you to write a letter to your editor of your local paper supporting the register and supporting sentencing changes. Please do what you can by petitioning the government, writing to your MP, writing DEFRA, and writing your editor of you paper. We are still in the beginning stages of this journey and a lot can change. However, the feedback has been positive. At this stage we need to keep the momentum going and keep our elected UK representatives aware of the need to make very necessary changes to the law.
