Hi all, The ACCC have now been requested to investigate per the above in light of continued comments and statements from Minister Cormann representing the Commonwealth that in essence Medibank Private 'Fund' Member Contributors have no ownership, equity or otherwise in The Medibank Private 'Fund' and moreover are just policyholders. Former Health Insurance Commission Chairman Fred Millar in the annual report of 1988 was clear that Member Contributors were the owners of Medibank Private 'Fund' inclusive of assets. In addition annual reports for the 'Fund' clearly showed Equity as 'Members Equity' which in 1994 stood at $350m. Then In many marketing documents and otherwise Medibank stated they were "a non profit health benefits organisation and all our Revenue, apart from administrative expenses, is paid to our members in the form of benefits". Now clearly shareholder dividends are not administrative expenses viz those taken by government from 2009 thru 2013. Clearly members could have come to rely on the above and many other like statements possibly as a feeling of and representing beneficial belonging and ownership much much more than just policyholders would. So when our now best described 'Blokie Man' minister says we are just policyholders he expects us to accept this when much of the history of promise and undertakings from the Commonwealth, it's entities and officers pre dates his Public office. Please feel free to lodge your own complaint at the ACCC website and spell out your own feelings about how members are being treated in light of the history relating to your membership. This is essential to ensure the ACCC clearly gain the varying views of many members on this most important matter. http://thenewdaily.com.au/news/2014/10/16/interview-former-phiac-chief-executive-shaun-gath/#.VEOhy80TOXo.mailto
