RITAH SSANYU TELLS US WHY THIS BILL IS SO IMPORTANT!

Let's work together, continuing the fight to end acid violence in Uganda. Listen to survivor, Ritah Ssanyu, as she explains why this bill is so important! "My name is Ssanyu Ritah. I'm an acid survivor. I got this attack in 2006 when on my way from school. At that time I was a university student, first year. And I was rushed to hospital where I spent two months admitted but I had to go back after every month. Ok- about the bill—I really ask that this bill should be passed. Why? Because we are in a country whereby acid survivors are not experiencing justice. So I believe when this bill is passed, all the acid survivors will have justice in a way that there will be, the perpetrators will be arrested. They will be sentenced to prison and with this bill, have the punishment and pay for what they did. Secondly, I believe that when this bill is passed, acid attacks will be reduced in a way that there will be fear of the would-be perpetrators to cause such attacks. Also, when the bill is passed, the acid survivors will not be discriminated from other people. They will have equal rights. They will have equal choices like other people. Because right now, it is very hard for acid survivors, even when they are educated well, to get a job. So please I ask that everyone who is involved either directly or indirectly should help us to see that this bill is being passed. Thank you very much."
