Dear all,
Some very good news!
The BBC are to air a documentary covering the loss of queer spaces in Summer 2017, which is excellent, as the more serious high profile reporting of closing queer spaces we can get the better. Makers 7 Wonder Productions are filming it, and have asked The Black Cap Community if you can turn out your recollections of The Black Cap over the last 60 years.
We have a shopping list too!
In no particular order, they would dearly like to beg, borrow, or steal the following from the last 60 years:
i) Videos, Youtube links, and photographs of HRH Regina Fong at The Black Cap
ii) Same for other well known acts
iii) Posters of acts - there have been many and striking posters over the years
iv) Footage of The Black Cap Vigilers doing their stuff. in April/May 2015 just after the pub was closed
v) In particular, footage and high quality pictures of the Routemaster bus
vi) Pictures/video of the Cappers on the Gay Pride march in June this year
vii) The later April 2016 Anniversary ones are also sought
viii) Black Cap Drag Queens over the period, I'm reminded of the photographic gallery earlier this year.
They haven't specifically asked for interviews yet, but might well do, so if you would be willing to do this, can you indicate this, and also forward to enquiries@weareblackcap.com and we'll put you on a list.
Can you please forward all digital materials to Joe Ingham at history@7wonder.co.uk, and printed examples, posters etc to Joe at:

Where you have items that are particularly valuable, I recommend you speak with Joe directly to sort out a way of meeting up and filming them.
Exciting times. we look forward to us taking over the entire documentary!
Best wishes
Chris

PS: We would just like to add that yes there are disappearing queer spaces, but The Black Cap is Very Definitely Not Disappearing. We have a huge noisy well-supported campaign, and do Vigils every Saturday 1 till 4pm, and quite often with song and dance to keep the spirit continuing. Do come along!
