We are concerned that the pace we were on to get to 10 thousand signatures has slowed down quite a lot.

We need your help by sending this petition to everyone you know.

We need your help with sending this to all the media contacts you have.

We need your help in creating social media posts/videos about this.

We want to be clear about this.

What happened with Marcus Charles is not an isolated incident.

Its been reported a security guard pressed charges assuming the person what being obnoxious rather than realizing it was a seizure. The judge dismissed the case although not before making it clear this case should not have even gone to court. While this was not a taser-related issue the point is people assume someone is being disruptive rather than checking to see if the person is in medical distress.

The CPKN program started because an off-duty police officer in Ottawa had a seizure and those who responded tased him because they didn’t recognize that he was having a seizure. In this case, the officer was newly diagnosed. This resulted in developing the program from an officer’s point of view so Police across the country could be educated about epilepsy.

Over the years, there have been cases of persons with epilepsy being tased across the country. We’ve had cases in Halifax, Ottawa, Ontario, and out West. It is the whole reason we are encouraging Police officers to take the training.

This needs to stop!

A reminder - Marcus Charles was charged with 3 charges. Assault Level 1 and two Assault Peace Officers charges. It goes to court sometime this month.

We thank Marcus Charles for signing this petition and for each of you for signing this petition.

PLEASE PROMOTE THIS!
