January 2021 Update

On January 12, 2021 I requested Mr. Doug Clovechok – MLA Constituency Assistant, Mr. Tony Jeglum a status update of the petition.

Mr. Jeglum informed that “… the petition has done all it can. It raised the issue with our local MLA, but digital petitions cannot be presented in the legislature. For that you would need a hardcopy.”

The Assistant recommended to email the petition to the Premier and the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.

On January 13, 2021, I sent separate emails to the Office of the Premier and the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure with the petition and the 18 pages of signatures attachments.

On February 5, 2021, the Office of the Premier responded the following via email:

Dear Mr. Mayer:

Thank you for sharing your petition to reduce the maximum speed limit of Highway 93/95 near Windermere. We appreciate your taking the time to write and apologize for the delay in response.

On your behalf, we have shared a copy of your message with the Honourable Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General. His staff will ensure that your comments are included in any upcoming, related discussions.

Since I have been informed that the petition to the Legislature of British Columbia will not progress, I decided to remove Mr. Doug Clovechok - MLA as the petition recipient and include the Honourable Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General.
