I wish I had better news.  After weeks of non-response from anyone in the Thai government, a representative of PETA Asia/Pacific shared this update from the National Geographic -- which originally broke this story and has been following it.  It is perhaps one of the most sickening articles I have ever read -- Thailand simply does not care about elephants. Thai officials' absolute indifference to to elephants so starved and weak that they cannot stand let alone walk is something I have never encountered in all my years on the planet.
