Hello everyone
First thank you so much for your continuing interest in this important issue. We now have 6077 signatures on this petition. Getting the word out about this property is so important.
Does anyone get the Globe and Mail? In the Saturday July 11, 2020 edition have a look at page 2. There is an article about the Niagara Movement. The first meeting occurred in Fort Erie on a property adjacent to Waverly Woods. Waverly was a significant stopover location for fugitive slaves from the United States and they often lived in a small settlement at Waverly Woods until they could find employment. Their names can be found on census records. The celebrations they had on Sundays attracted people from both sides of the border. It would be great if the Globe would run an article on Waverly Woods! Why not ask them?
