Many technologies - including early detection, fixed wing aircraft, retardant - exist to gain early containment and control of, and to extinguish fire and smoke. Instead, fire/smoke administrators choose to selectively "manage" burns, "box and burn," "footprint" and engage in extended fuels burning practices that generate toxic smoke - including PM10, PM2.5, and carbon black - which affects citizens far beyond the burn line boundaries, even 100's of miles away, over weeks and months at a time.
