This dismissive attitude to the older generations was also shown by the appalling treatment of 100 year old Anne who had flown from Canada to meet the Prime Minister to argue the case for the frozen pensions campaign. The PM couldn't even spare the time to say hello to her, and palmed Anne off on a junior minister who went through the motions of listening. 

Unfortunately the prospects for any single issue campaign involving pensioners are very poor unless this undeclared war, and the negative attitudes underpinning it, are exposed and challenged politically, as Silver Voices is doing.
