THANK YOU!!! You have made a difference by signing the petition calling for a tax to be placed on plastic. Thank you so much for your support - over 18,300 people have signed so far. The petition was 240 pages long.
Last week, I drove to Canberra and presented the petition to David McElrea, the Chief Of Staff for Tanya Plibersek, the Australian Minister for the Environment and Water. David was very supportive and said that such petitions were very important for effecting change. They realise that plastic is an environmental problem and in fact have joined a global coalition to end plastic pollution by 2040. Tanya may attend a meeting of the coalition in May 2023.
Let's keep the good work up and think of other ways to put pressure on our governments to reduce plastic and protect our environment.
