Dear supporters, Those were the words that we heard yesterday at the first listening meeting at Syracuse University: "We didn't think about it." As you well know, these listening meetings are coming at a time after over 7,500 signatures have been collected and over 75 faculty signatories have signed a message urging the Chancellor to rescind his decision to close the Advocacy Center. However, the response we have received from the administration was this: listening meetings in the summer months. Yet, these listening meetings don't come with a specific goal in mind. Rather, they are filled with senior administrators urging our campus community (of course only those who are even on campus in the summer) to know they hear us but will not change the status of the Advocacy Center. Therefore, to me, what that means is they don't want to listen, they don't care about our voices, and they are afraid. I urge you to stand with me and call our administration to action by notifying your parents, alumni, friends, donors, and board members. We know this university does not run simply through the hands of the administration, but through many parties that care deeply about it's students and community. Share our petition wide, and do not be fooled. We have the ability to create change, and we have the power to bring justice. Will you join me?
