My Fellow Friends of the Historic Bell Buckle School,
After just shy of a week of our petition being online, we have over 525 signatures. Thank you! I plead with you all to share with the petition via social media, email, word of mouth... In any way that you can.
This idea is not unique to Bell Buckle. Our country has hundreds, if not thousands, of once beloved school buildings, that have been abandoned and left to deteriorate, with no planned purpose for the future. Also not unique, is a community's willingness to pitch in, do the hard work, and show that they value restoring a space to come together, to learn, to celebrate, and to reflect their identity. This dream is possible to bring into reality!
Also, please mark your calendars for August 8th at 6:00 p.m. We plan to have a civil but frank discussion with the Mayor, the Board of Alderman, and the town's attorney to plead the case to restore this structure and allow it to once again serve the community. Seeing faces of real people, from Bell Buckle and surrounding areas, in favor of this project is sure to show that we have the numbers and will to see this through.
Thanks again! We can do this!
Janie
