Recently, our petition to "Support Mental Health and Addictions Recovery: Just Say No to Long-Term Institutional Care" had over 1000 people sign their names. This shows the large number of people who support community based care, support SAMHSA, and oppose the expansion of involuntary treatment and the return to asylums.
Recent Trump and RFK Jr. actions - including an Executive Order to promote coercion and long-term institutionalization along with continued attacks on SAMHSA- have made our petition more important than ever. As a result, we see more and more people joining our efforts.
Timing is also critical given Congress is back at debating the federal budget - the fate of SAMHSA, massive budget cuts, and the protection of our liberty is at stake.
We have shared the petition with Congressional leadership of major committees that address mental health, addictions and the budget.
Let's continue to make our voices heard! Please share the petition with others to sign.
We can make a difference in promoting recovery and rights for all! Thank you!
