Hello Community, Supporters and Voters
On the 4th June 2025 the Minister for Local Government Ron Honieg MP introduced an Act to amend the Local Government Act 1993 to provide for matters relating to the administration of elections for local councils; and to make consequential amendments to the Local Government (General) Regulation 2021.

SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN
📣 Submissions are now open for the NSW Upper House inquiry into the Local Government Amendment (Elections) Bill 2025.
This bill would change how local council elections are run, requiring that only the NSW Electoral Commissioner administer them. It would shorten the pre-poll voting period to five days, require polling places to be located within council boundaries, and mandate that council vacancies be filled by someone from the same group as the departing councillor.
Individuals and organisations affected by these proposed changes are encouraged to make a submission.
🗓️ Submissions close 8 July 2025

Your voices and experiences need to be heard from the last local council election to ensure that the NSW Electoral Commission runs future Council elections.
Thank you for your support.
