On Wednesday, September 6, 2022, The New Jersey Fish and Game Council approved a bear management plan that allows bear hunting until at least 2028. This decision passed even though bear hunting does NOT reduce bear-human conflicts; state data shows a 32% drop in all bear activity compared to last year (2022), overwhelming public opposition, and proven non-lethal methods that could have been implemented.
