In May last year, Hobsons Bay City Council sent a letter demanding every resident at Techno Park Dr Williamstown immediately vacate our homes due to 35-year-old zoning. Eight months later—thanks to enormous public support—we’re still here.
But our council is still committed to removing us from our homes, saying the new date for eviction is May 15 this year.
On a story about Techno Park featured on the Sunday Project last week, co-host Hamish Macdonald observed “[Council and State Government] are working together, they say, to find solutions. It just seems the common sense solution, which is allowing these people to stay where they live and want to remain, is just absent from the conversation.”
We need your help to get this common sense solution on the table.
If you live in Victoria, can you take 5 minutes to email the Planning Minister?
If you live in Hobsons Bay, get in touch with your Mayor and Councillors to let them know you want to see them take action to keep Techno Park residents in their homes, and that your vote in the October council election depends on it! You can call, text or email them.
Thank you to all of you who have stood by Techno Park residents in our fight against eviction. We may have a long road ahead of us, but your solidarity gives us heart.
