After some quieter weeks following Missoula County’s decision to void the original zoning compliance application, many in the community hoped this threat might be slowing down. However, in the last few weeks, well sampling engineers have again been spotted testing wells on two separate occasions. The engineers themselves confirmed the work was being done in connection with the “Riverside Contracting gravel pit.”
This is an important reminder that while our community’s organizing efforts have made real progress, the threat to the beloved Blackfoot River corridor remains active and that our efforts must continue and strengthen now.
We are entering a phase where longer term strategic planning, stronger organizing, outreach, expert guidance, and community support are increasingly important, and once again, we are asking for your support.
Please take a moment to think about what the river means to you and what you can give to help protect it. Any and all amounts are welcome, as every contribution, no matter the size, helps move this work forward.
If everyone who cares about this river chipped in even $5–$20, it could make a meaningful difference in helping sustain this next chapter of protecting the Blackfoot River corridor.
We also want to sincerely thank everyone who previously donated through Change.org. Many supporters understandably believed those funds were going directly toward this effort. However, donations made through Change.org supported the platform itself and were not received by our community organizing efforts.
Protect the Blackfoot River by donating here.
The protection of this river depends on us all.
The Blackfoot River and all lifeforms Thank You for your support. 🌊♥️🌲
