India stands at an energy crossroads. We import nearly 85% of our crude oil needs, spending enormous sums each year while facing pollution, rising power demand and global price shocks. At the same time, nature has gifted us abundant sunshine — a free and renewable source of power available across the country. This Earth Day, with the global call to triple clean electricity generation by 2030, India has a historic opportunity to reduce fuel dependence and build a cleaner, stronger future.

We urge citizens to support a National Mass Solar Mission on the lines of the Swachh Bharat Mission. Solar rooftops, schools, hospitals, industries, streetlights, parking lots, solar parks, EV charging and battery innovation can create jobs, support MSMEs, cut pollution and strengthen energy security.
