"OceanCare is a Swiss non-profit organization founded in 1989. The association advocates for marine health at national & international levels. Concerned about the constantly rising level of Ocean Noise Pollution & its harmful impact on marine life, OceanCare has launched the ‘Silent Oceans’ campaign (www.silentoceans.com) From Sept. 2013 to Jan. 2014 large scale seismic surveys were completed in the Adriatic Sea's Exclusive Economic Zone of Croatia (about 35,000 km). These activities received strong criticism from OceanCare & other international conservation organizations. Such a short-sighted rush to explore oil & gas resources in the Adriatic Sea will not only cause harm to marine life, but jeopardizes the development of a sustainable approach which puts priority on the protection of species & ecosystems, as well as tourism & fisheries.
