Apologies for the silence in the last week, there are a lot of consultations being run simultaneously, so lots of reading for me! There will be update videos coming the next fortnight and work for you guys to do (people to email), please keep an eye out for all of this.
My main point for today, I keep an eye on the prices of tariffs so I can keep you guys up-to-date on cheap deals, and E.ON Next have updated their 18-month fixed rate tariff, reducing the standing charges to just 70p per day for both gas and electric, compared to the price cap's c.93p per day, this saves over £84 per year on just the standing charges! The average saving for a medium-usage household is around £135 per year, so I'd definitely give it a look if you haven't fixed already. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: According to Ofgem's website, they will be announcing the next price cap update on Monday 25 November 2024, this will tell us the price cap from 1 January to 31 March 2025. The really important bit is that I actually reckon they'll announce it on Friday 22 November, they usually like to do it before the weekend so everyone can get distracted and calm down before hounding them for a week. Fair enough, but why bother lying about it? Anyway, hopefully I'll have a price cap update for you next week!
