To date, our petition has been signed by 1,285 folks. All opposed to the proposed gravel mine on Ormond Road. We still have quite a long road ahead of us, please continue to stay informed by visiting our Facebook Page, Mining Paradise-Springfield Twp. The page has a "files" tab, loaded with documents and important information. In addition, our group has a volunteer creating a website. We hope to have the website live by end of the week.
Volunteers will be handing out flyers tonight throughout our local area, a copy can we found below. If your schedule permits, please attend the upcoming Township Board meeting (June 12) and Planning Commission meeting (June 24) at 7:00pm
NO GRAVEL PIT IN DAVISBURG
The Levy Mining Company has proposed a 496-acre gravel pit here in our hometown (Ormond Rd; N of Big Lake Rd & S of French Rd). Lasting 25+ years.
Why you should care:
· 80+ gravel trains a day; Mon-Sat, 6am-8pm. Current suggested route: Ormond Rd, Davisburg Rd & S on Milford Rd
· Health Risks – dust and silica (proven to be cancer causing) in the air; noted to travel 5+miles
· Water table risks (risk of drying up wells and local lakes)
· Road safety
· Long term environmental impacts
· Property value depreciation
What can YOU do about this???
Let our Township Board (your elected officials) know that you have concerns about the Serious Consequences if approved. Please considering attending:
· June 12th @ 7pm Springfield Township Board meeting
· June 24th @ 7pm Planning Commission meeting
You are needed at BOTH meetings, held at the Civic Center (12000 Davisburg Rd). Please aid us and our community in stopping this proposal.
