Dear Friends: November 19, 2025
As we count our blessings this Holiday Season, be sure to include the Oak Brook Sports Core. This treasure was purchased in 1977 and Oak Brook residents have enjoyed it ever since.
However, in 2025, a subset of village trustees sought to establish a private business on Sports Core land. In response, Friends of Oak Brook Sports Core was formed. We begged village leadership to not agree to a 25-year deal with a private caterer that seeks to build a stark white building on Sports Core land. Village leadership refused to listen to us or to the many residents that spoke at board meetings this summer. As a result, Friends of Oak Brook Sports Core had to file suit against the village and the caterer. Our goal is simply to protect the Oak Brook Sports Core from commercialization. We seek to enforce zoning laws and the deed to Sports Core land. We are encouraged by the fact that our lawsuit has, so far, stopped construction of a banquet hall on Sports Core land. We must persevere. We are grateful that three village trustees support our position, but three other trustees and the village president continue to advocate for private use of public land.
At this time, FOBSC asks for your help.
We need money to fund the lawsuit. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of your donation will be used to win the lawsuit. FOBSC has no overhead. We are your neighbors and friends. We are volunteers. We appreciate every donation, big or small. Consider donating:
