At the May 27, 2025 village meeting we discussed options for the sports core.  President Herman gave some historical perspective of the site, and noted that the median age of OB residents is now 51 (it used to be 65).  Younger families are moving here. He explained that the new lining of the 60-year-old pool is failing.  Chic Chef ("CC") came to the village about a year ago with a proposal to increase the banquet facility, take it private and generate enough cash to ultimately build a new pool and improved tennis amenities.  Renderings of the CC proposal were presented at the board meeting May 27.

Trustee JAIN noted that the goal is to preserve the OBBT, not to create a new banquet hall.   He noted that the second phase of the CC proposal requires a new large zero-depth pool with a huge slide complex and other amenities.  He concluded that a more realistic pool re-build would cost only $5M.  Further, he concluded that annual profits from OBBT golf operations total approximately the same amount as predicted by CC.  So why would we gamble with the CC proposal and damage our land's natural beauty in the process?    We can get a new pool without the CC deal.  We will post trustee JAIN's presentation here shortly.  Stay tuned.
